Why your resume will dictate your pay

If nobody can see you, you won’t be seen…?!

I’ve said it at least a dozen times, and I’ll probably say it at least a dozen more… Standing out is the first step to getting yourself a decent job. There’s going to be an example below; but before we dig into that, we’re going to go over a very simple concept: You can only sell yourself if you’re noticed! Just by getting looked at a second time could be enough to get yourself called in for an interview you may not have had otherwise.

When a potential employer is going through 250+ resumes, you’re going to become a blur in their day. After that point there’s nothing you can do, and you’ll probably never know why you weren’t called back for an interview. So for one second, we’ll consider the possibility that you’re able to attract attention to your resume… What happens after that? I’ll go over the example below.

The math behind it

The average person who applies for a job may get a 94% non-response rate from jobs they apply for. Which means 94 out of 100 jobs will not offer you an interview. So for our example, we’ll apply for 100 jobs. On one side we’ll use “The Average” resume (our competition); and on the other side we’ll use a “ResumesBeyond” resume (that’s us). Our resumes have proven to be at least 300% more effective than resumes created by our competitors in certain industries, and up to 1000% more effective in other industries. For the sake of the example we’ll use the worst case scenario situation of 300% more interviews.

Before we start

The point of the experiment is to show you how a superior resume is guaranteed to give you better pay options when you’re scouting the job market. We aren’t applying for any minimum wage jobs (which comes to $19,240 per year). We’re assuming you’re going to apply for jobs at least double the minimum wage, so we’ll say 38k per year is going to be the minimum requirement we’re looking for in the experiment.

**Note: You’re probably wondering where we got 300% from? Check out our case study which proves that our resumes provide anywhere from 300% – 1000% greater results when looking for a job. Want proof?

Long story short…

When you have 6 jobs to choose from, you’re more likely to get a higher paying job from “Law of Averages” alone. Having a resume that optimizes the amount of interviews you’re getting will be the reason you’re able to “choose” a higher paying job, instead of settling for the “decent” job.

My partner and I started off working for a large recruiting firm in Baltimore, MD. We handled everything involved in the recruiting process. When you're hiring hundreds of people, you learn a thing or two. Every day you'd look through at least 50 resumes, just to start off. One out of maybe 200 resumes had any color to them. We obviously knew the colored resumes had more of our attention. So we said, why don't more people do this? That's when we decided to start Resumes Beyond! So here we are, saving one resume at a time. Don't forget we guarantee interviews. Find out how here!
